Things I thought I would use my new headphones for: playing music and games. Things I have used my new headphones for: blocking out the sounds of my grandfather vomitting and my parents having sex (thankfully... not at the same time).

Inglorious Basterds: IDK if my enjoyment of this movie really says anything, since I don't think I've ever seen a WW2 movie and disliked it. It had far less gore than I was expecting, considering it was a Tarantino movie. It was... weird, but good. I really like tense conversations, and that's what most of the movie was: tense conversation, gore, tense conversation... etc. Landa was a fantastic bad guy. The only thing I dislike was that my favorite character, who I had been rooting for throughout almost the entire film, didn't make it. :(

I hit Steam for some epic sales yesterday. Got Audiosurf, Torchlight, Eufloria, Machinarium, and the special edition of The Secret of Monkey Island. The only two I've really spent much time with are Audiosurf and Torchlight, which I also think were my best buys, at $3 and $5 respectively.

Audiosurf takes any music file you have and creates a road out of it. The road goes up when the tempo is slow, and down when it's fast. As you travel down the road, you collect colored blocks with your spaceship. The blocks are cool colors when the music is slow, and warm colors when it's fast. Basically, EVERYTHING in the game is in tune with the music. And you can use any song you like! There are also a huge amount of characters to play as, which are basically different modes. I loooove this game. Best $3 I've ever spent.

Do you like dungeon crawling? If so, you'll love Torchlight, since that's all you do. It sounds boring, but Torchlight has a really good system for it. In addition to your own abilities, you have a pet. The pet can attack, but more importantly, it acts as an extra inventory. When you run out of room in your inventory, you can transfer stuff to your pet. Then, you can send your pet out of the dungeon and back to town to sell your loot, which eliminates a lot of the annoying backtracking that plagues most dungeon adventures in other games. It's really easy to just waste an hour or so on. It's also surprisingly good quality for a game whose regular price is only $20.

And finally... I saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra yesterday! I had a great time. This year's show was the best ever. And I got to hear them perform songs from Night Castle! I brought binoculars since I wasn't sure exactly where our seats would be. However, they actually weren't too far from the stage, and anyway they did a much better job this year of giving everyone something cool to look at, no matter where you were sitting. There were quite a few new people this time. One was a guy who sang the "angel" songs, who was... really hot. He got a lot of girly screams when they introduced him later, hah. They also had a new female violinist, and a male one. The guy was... also hot. And energetic! I think I enjoyed his song the most.

...But yeah, I mostly used the binoculars to ogle hot guys. :x The other thing I used them for was looking at everyone's hair. I was getting a complex there. There were maybe two performers who didn't have fabulous hair. And of course they were flipping that hair all over every chance they got. SO JEALOUS.
