So FFXIV

I got into the open beta! Man, character creation was fun. The graphics are gorgeous, but I'm concerned with how few FPS I'm getting. This is a computer that handles Crysis on High settings. It should be able to run an MMO smooth as butter.

It is more user-friendly than FFXI (which... isn't saying much lol). It still pretty much throws you into the deep end. You get into your first battle with no preamble and after that, you're given a name and place on your unweildly map.

I did not get much farther than that. I understand that the idea is to explore and find things out for yourself, but I just don't have time for that. I wonder if SE understands this, and doesn't care. Obviously, because of their claims of making FFXIV more accessible, they were not happy with FFXI's rather meager number of players. The thing is though, as much as people complain about WoW holding your hand too much, that is what makes it possible for people with busy schedules to play the game. I mean, I've had to drop out of WoW for the time being. Am I going to be playing FFXIV which requires more time and effort? Hell no. I suppose they will pick up everyone who played WoW and found it lacking, but are there really that many people like that?

It's unfortunate, because I much prefer the world of FFXIV to the world of WoW. And I would so love to play. But I would basically have to cut out every other hobby I have to make time for it, and even then... Well, it's just not going to happen.
